A silver sheen dress. Lots of open backs. Emperor’s new clothes. A shirt that I have since seen described as a ‘fringed tee’, but to me looked like confetti. Every press member in their Sunday best. A few over-dressed children look on, well behaved but hiding sentiments of bafflement politely.
Last week in the middle of London Fashion Week we went backstage to the New Power Studios show for their SS12 collection ‘BIRTHS, DEATHS and MARRIAGES’, inspired by the venue itself, Somerset House, which was formerly used as a registration office.
London Fashion Week kicked itself firmly into gear a couple of nights earlier than planned this year when garish young fashionista Rhiannon Jones launched her debut collection atop the National Car Park on Great Eastern Street. The whole thing was executed at
Queuing, queuing, queuing, waiting, waiting, waiting (in the rain). This is where the majority of one’s time is spent during LFW. But boy is it worth the wait!
