It’s still a great song but risking it again might be a bit much, luckily Bristol’s Turbowolf have covered it. Relive it as you witness it reborn.
This week Emmely does the white girl cover rap, but she’s got big competition from other ‘badass’ middle class white girls.
Cold Showers macabre take on the Cars radio friendly New Wave hit.
Total Slacker are about to embark on an American tour and have recorded a cover of Grimes ‘Oblivion’ before they set out. I think it’s the first cover of one of her songs I’ve heard and it works remarkably well. In fact I might go so far as to say I prefer the cover, but I think this might simply be a result of having played the original to death.
The Art Is Hard Pizza Club is always great but this one is extra exciting. Playlounge are one of my favourite bands in the UK at the moment and it’s hard not to love everything that’s Keel Her related, so putting them all together is obviously a brilliant idea. Been loving this live for a while, now that it has been recorded everyone can enjoy it whenever they want.
Glasgow’s Paws are as you can probably guess from the above photo the kind of band that get tagged with the label of slacker punk. Green hair, melvins shirts and park based drinking activity will lead to such things. A while back they covered Big Deal for a BBC session. It fell off iplayer long ago but now they’ve put it on soundcloud so it can be enjoyed for ever, or at least till they take it down or the internet fails and the world ends.
It’s weird to hear this song covered. Chris from way Through is not 22 and I’m assuming no one has actually put him on the pill. It’s for a forthcoming Belly Kids release, details in Mikes words below…
“track from the forthcoming covers compilation on Belly Kids! Featuring Human Hair, Gold Bars, Sauna Youth, Keel Her and more… with a zine full of illustrations inspired by the greatest musicians.”
