Timothee Touze is a 22 year old from Nantes, France who takes these super fish-eyed photos. He seems kind of pissed off with the French skate scene; “I don’t like the good photos of bad tricks that all the French magazines are full of, it seems kind of pointless.” Instead he prefers Michael Burnett’s work in Thrasher that “shows the entire scene and takes care of hammers and gnarly tricks.”
According to Timo his local scene is in a transitional period. The ‘skateboarding godfather’ of the city, Christophe Bétille, tragically died two years ago from a heart attack after he had brought skating to the city and campaigned to get the first concrete park in Europe built in Nantes. Even with this is mind Timo says, “it’s still not up to English standards, the country is full of shitty steel skateparks.” However a new shop was opened recently by Maxime Nicolas who is “young and full of motivation” and has been organising loads of skate events in the city and helping to get locals in to magazines.
