UNDER THE INFLUENCE: DOG BITE.
A perfect replacement for that one ‘Afroman’ song you always put on through the medium of your cack mobile phone speakers (after a heavy duty park sesh with the other local dregs) – is Dog Bite. Bought to our attention by the mixtape Shlohmo put together for us; his music is as much hazy catatonic summer evenings as it is numbing winter nights, and like, it totally touched me man. He’s just put out an EP on the achingly hip Young Turks label, and is now sharing his time between side project Acid Flashback, playing guitar in Washed Up, and finishing a new album. And writing this for us.

Nas – Illmatic
The first CD I bought was Illmatic, so that set the stage for the music I would let hit my eardrums. After I heard “one love” I was sure that I would become a rapper…that worked out pretty well.

Margaret Kilgallen (ARTIST)
I’ve been doing art since I can remember, so when I was in highschool I was the artsy kid always in the art room. Around that time I really started getting into a group of artists; Barry Mcgee, Ed Templeton, Basquiat, David Choe, Clare Rojas, and Margaret Kilgallen. Kilgallen was probably the artist that I admired the most though, the way she portrayed characters and stories really made me want to get into painting. She’s still my favorite artist.

Pee Wee’s Big Adventure
My life is basically based off of this movie.

Edan – Beauty And The Beast
Such a good album, it changed my idea of how music should sound. It’s so well put together but not too many people know of it or him for some reason.

Spirited Away
I’m a huge fan of cartoons and animation in general. Spirited Away was so good to me cus it was all about a completely different world with different rules and all that. But most importantly it got my imagination going like nothing else had up to that point. Spirited Away was basically brain candy to me.
