Mint Mixtape: Juj.
One part of LA collective WEDIDIT (which is where you can download his mixtapes from), and beats supremo, Juj, kindly made us a mix this week to sooth us while we lost our shit getting the site back up and running, excpect beats in all shapes and sizes – much like his own output.

Hi, Where are you from?
I was born and raised in Los Angeles, and I currently split my time between LA and Santa Cruz.
How long have you been making beats for?
As far as life: friends, family, my girl, my dog, music, comedy, food. As far as music goes, the whole beat scene really. Over the past few years there’s been a blurrier divide between people who I looked up to as musicians and just personal friends. So just having a whole social circle of people who are super fucking talented and all mellow cool dudes makes me more hyped to jump in the mix and contribute some music. It keeps me motivated, ya know.
I use Reason for the most part, but I still bang some beats out on the MPC1000 from time to time too.
It’s just some of the music I’ve been feeling a lot lately, mostly made by musical buds of mine with a few of my own tunes in there as well.
Future plans for Juj?
I’m tryna get off my lazy ass and put out an official record: vinyl, in stores, the whole thing. I can be a little neurotic with my own music, so I don’t wanna release just some bullshit (which I make plenty of). I’m waiting until I have a good selection of tracks that I’m (mostly) confident in–I think I’ve got a pretty good start so far. Otherwise, I’ve got my first out-of-state shows coming up, so hopefully I can do more of that in the future. Just get to travel around a little bit and share the music. That’d be cool beans.
