I think it’s fair to say that Russia hasn’t really made a significant impression on any recent western musical cliques. True, we could probably play the game of exceptions all day; but in general it’s a mainstream cultural musicality that’s been reserved for the audience within; and the ocassional merking it silly at the Eurovision Song  Contest.

As often however, the mainstream is just a lacking distraction for an unspoken talent, veiled beneath (probably playing Counterstrike). It’s not so much a combination of thier own culture with ours; or a complete reinvention. It’s  more a talent for retracing the steps of other musical movements with a  distinct Russian individuality. Their apparent tardiness to musical trends means they can take on the whole context of genre after everyone else has had their say; post-inception international perspectives and modifications. Personally, there’s also a degree of cognitive curiosity here in the very concept of hip hop from Russia itself. It’s like Asian black metal, it doesn’t seem compatible at first glance, but it so is. Truth be told I could chat shit all day about this, but you’re better off checking it yourself. Let me break you off though with a few finds.
