Heyerdahl is the new project from four Oslo-based recording artists who have each previously achieved recognition in their native land under various guises. Their first single, Mirage, is released on the 11th October and its composition reads almost as fantastically as the myths that inspired it. The 12″ was recorded in a rural lighthouse over the winter of 2011 to a backdrop of hurricane strength winds and the sea violently lapping at their door. It’s this sense of remoteness that informs the tone of the recording, cold synth notes and crisp Nordic vocals emphasised by thunderous drums, the harsh environment saturating the black grooves of the record.
