Egyptian Hip Hop have finally returned from their extended hiatus following the release of 2009s ‘Some Reptiles Grew Wings’ EP. They sound precisely like a band who have taken the time to grow up, honing their trade elsewhere in anticipation of their forthcoming debut. It’s been a suspiciously quiet couple of years for them releasing only the occasional remix, which makes this first taste of ‘God Don’t Sleep’ a particularly exciting one. SYH has ditched much of the angular guitar sound that you might associate with the band, in its place are synths and a more obviously electronic bent, bringing the band not only into the contemporary but firing them beyond it an into the future.
