David Douglass is a Dutch producer who creates richly atmospheric electronica. California Poppy, taken from his debut EP is a blissed out summer jam that engulfs with swelling synths and mellow bass thuds. Solar Bears have taken that seed and stamped their unique approach all over it, seasoning the track with a slightly more melancholy flavour. The Irish duo are famed for their atmospheric productions and it’s the subtle changes made to this which, whilst retaining the mellow tone of the original, bring out a much more pensive note, especially towards the latter half of the track where the sanguine vibes become absorbed by something much darker.
