Blanck Mass is the solo project of Benjamin John Power from Fuck Buttons. His self titled debut was release last year and was a truly beautiful and mesmerising body of work. This track is taken from his forthcoming 12″ released through Software and is an 11 minute exploration of foreboding sequenced electronica. It’s an attempted escape route into a higher mental plane, constantly building into ever greater layers around one eternal sequence. It’s the sort of thing that Fuck Buttons are synonymous with, letting the music veer of into almost psychedelic states, but this is wholly different, there’s something much darker at work here in its gurning and turgid framework. White Math is like trying to find your way out of an iron fortress and being faced eternally with concrete windows, not the sort of escapism that anyone sane would vote for, but who is truly sane?
