I’m going to make a really lazy comparison here but just roll with it. Obviously we have been offline for quite a while so we missed out of a fair bit of stuff that we wanted to write about. One of the main things that I was listening to whilst I was holed up in the library was the new Cold Cave album, Cherish the Light Years, which is dark new wave at its very best. Pictureplane is sort of the same, albeit with more rave thrown in for the party. I wasn’t a huge fan of the last album, Dark Rift, but I though that there were a couple of tracks on there that were alluding to something greater, notably this.

However, I really think that this new track has got a huge amount of depth and suggests a hugely matured sound. There is also the influence of Jupiter Keyes from Health who co-produced the new album which I think comes through in the perpetual, wall-like structure of the sound… Whatever happens I will definitely be paying attention to the Thee Physical which is released around the 19th July…
