Southern Fried Exhibition.
You know when you’re standing in line waiting for your doner at 3AM, but all you really want to do is see a nice bit of art? Take Away NX caters to both those needs. It’s an exhibition held in New Cross, South East London. Events like this usually find themselves in unused buildings or empty spaces, but Take Away NX is located in every fast food restaurant between New Cross and New Cross Gate stations.
We asked the curator Karl VonBAhnhof why he decided to organize the event:
“Because it’s cool, and it’s the easiest way how to get girls, it’s like all the exhibitions I ever do is to get girls. That’s why I do any exhibition, ever.”
We spoke with our friend Ciaran who was being exhibited:
How did this come about?
I don’t really know, I think Karl just had the idea. Not like a Biennale type thing but, I don’t know – something that just involved the stretch, with the Marquis (pub) as a centre point. I don’t know I have no idea. (laughs)
I think it’s a cool idea, it’s incorporating something everyone does; everyone goes to the pub and everyone goes to the kebab house.

How about the harsh lighting?
I like the harsh lighting, it’s making me look at the posters round the shop and think ‘is that someone’s artwork?’ When we were in the chip shop and there was all that shitty writing, it reminded me of some artist’s work. It’s confusing.
And look at those framed pictures, I could say they were mine. I’d like to say that’s mine.
