Asia Chmielewska.
Full sized wooly mammoths, spooning bananas and stoner triad BMWs are apparently pretty common in Barcelona, or at least that’s what Asia’s photography makes you think.
Asia describes herself as a “photo Casanova and a serious music junkie,” citing Nan Goldin, Stephen Shore and Thomas Ruff as her photographic influences but saying music is is more inspirational to her than anything else. Born in a small town in the West of Poland and introduced to photography by her father when she was 7 years old, Asia moved to London to study her trade and has since moved to Barcelona to continue her career.
At the moment she’s working on a project called ‘Underground Kingdom,’ which explores car parks and spaces around Barcelona – all part of her desire to explore the ‘understated complexity of our everyday environments.’
